“Guardians of the Galaxy 2” will film in Atlanta, director James Gunn said during a Q&A with fans on his Facebook page.
In response to a question about whether he will appear at the next DragonCon he wrote, “Maybe. I’m gonna try. Because we’re filming in Atlanta, I hope it works out for my schedule.”
He also extolled his working relationship with Marvel. In response to a question about whether he had creative control with the first “Guardians” movie he said he felt like he had even more this go-round.
“We have a really great relationship where they let me go and do my thing, and I truly listen to their notes and ideas,” Gunn wrote. “I’ve never been told to put in any character or plot element at all. I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve read stuff on the Internet from people who think they understand how Marvel works, when they don’t at all. When they trust you – and I think I’ve earned their trust over the past few years – they give you a wide berth. I truly love them and love working with them. Like a good marriage, we just fit.”
It’s a good bet the sequel will headquarter at the huge and expanding Pinewood Studios facility in Fayette County. “Ant-Man” filmed there last year and “Captain America” is on deck next.
