Celebrity chef and author Paula Deen will discuss her transition to healthy eating and weight loss on the “Dr. Oz” show airing at 3 p.m. Monday on Channel 2, right before Channel 2 Action News at 4 p.m.
Deen lost more than 35 pounds and got her diabetes under control thanks to some healthy new choices.
“My son Bobby introduced me to yogurt. It’s got that same richness and consistency that you get from mayonnaise,” she said during the episode. “But a lot, lot better for you. You can switch it out with yogurt, anything that calls for that kind of creaminess.”

When she received the diabetes diagnosis, she got busy.
“I went home to my kitchen and I threw out everything that was white: White bread, white rice, white potatoes, white pasta,” she said. “I did that for four months, y’all! Just four months.”
After trimming down she eased up some, and now stresses moderation.
“I lost 35 or 40 pounds and now I’ve brought everything back into my kitchen, just like anybody’s kitchen,” she said. “But the thing that I’m really trying to focus y’all is moderation. Moderation. Moderation. Eat a cookie, just don’t eat six of ‘em!”
