The Taco Mac at 600 Chastain Road in Kennesaw and radio station Kicks 101.5 FM are teaming up for a benefit this Thursday, April 2, in honor of U.S. Army veteran Christopher Sparkman.
He was gravely injured last year when a suicidal gunman opened fire at the Fed Ex store where Sparkman had been working as a security guard and has undergone more than 30 surgeries since then and earlier this year faced a harrowing setback following complications.
Sparkman’s wife Jamie Lynn has kept supporters updated on his condition, recently posted that he faces a very long road to recovery. She also said he has twice been denied disability benefits and revealed that the family has been struggling financially, as she’s had to quit her job to care for him. They were newlyweds at the time of the shooting, having met through a church group.
If you can’t make it to Taco Mac on Thursday but would like to help, there’s a link to make contributions at this web site.
