Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton led his team to a 38-0 win over the Falcons, then he and “Ride Along 2” stars Ice Cube and Kevin Hart gave some high school students the greatest gift ever. But his Christmas sweater literally can’t even.
Actually the festive finery hails from the 2Chainz Christmas collection, and there’s a neat story behind it. The “Dabbing Santa Ugly Christmas Sweatshirt” is a charitable project. “I’m grateful to the support y’all have shown to Dabbin Santa Sweaters, just wanna let y’all know I’m inspired. That being said, I will be donating a part of the proceeds from each sweater to help families in need this Holiday season. Thanks to y’all!!” 2Chainz says on his site. (Get yours here!)
It was the perfect outfit for Tuesday’s awesome event in Charlotte. Newton, along with back-up QBs Joe Webb and Derek Anderson, joined Ice-Cube and Kevin Hart for “Santa Cam’s Surprise Sleigh” day of giving. To the delight of 65 football players at Harding University High School, the fellas showed up with a special surprise: a $7,500 for a full weight room refurbish, courtesy of the Cam Newton Foundation and Universal.
Cam is as dedicated to philanthropy off the field as he is to his game on the field. We spent time with him and his family this summer to talk about his foundation and why he feels giving back is so important.
“Ride Along 2,” which filmed largely in Atlanta, is due out Jan. 15. Here are some photos from Tuesday’s Charlotte event:
