A U.S. Army soldier and his military working dog who unofficially received the Purple Heart are recovering after being injured in Afghanistan. A photo of Spc. Andrew Brown’s Purple Heart clipped to K-9 Rocky’s collar went viral:

“One of our Military Working Dogs, Rocky, and his handler were injured this week during operations in Afghanistan,” the 89th Military Police Brigade in Fort Hood, Tex. posted with this photo recently. “Rocky and his handler are staying in the same room right now as they are receiving treatment for their injuries. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they recover during the holiday season.”

A few days later came some good news. Both were on the mend.
