Ricky Gervais promised to offend prior to the 73rd annual Golden Globe awards. Did he succeed? [RED CARPET PHOTOS]
His opening monologue alluded to the fatal car wreck caused by Caitlyn Jenner – still known as Bruce Jenner at the time of the crash. He made graphic mention of certain anatomical elements, suggested that Golden Globe trophies can be bought and paid for and even said that awards themselves are junk.
“That award is, no offense, worthless,” he said. “It’s a bit of metal that some nice old confused journalists wanted to give you in person so they could meet you and take a selfie with you.”
Here’s the clip. Note, not all this is safe for work and if you’re easily offended, this might not be for you.
