“Goosebumps” coming back to Georgia for sequel?

“Goosebumps,” based on the series by R.L. Stine, filmed in metro Atlanta and beyond. EW reports that a sequel is in the works, possibly teeing up a return of Jack Black and friends.

The first “Goosebumps” filmed in 2014 and was released last year. It filmed some in metro Atlanta locations including a cemetery in Decatur, a neighborhood in. Inman Park and Zoo Atlanta, but primarily in historic Madison, where the stately Morgan County Courthouse got virtually squashed by a giant CGI bug during a monster rampage scene.

“Goosebumps” was an amalgamated adaptation of a number of books from the vast Stine library, which seemed like a better idea than trying to faithfully bring one book to the screen, director Rob Letterman told the AJC around the time the movie was released last year.

More clever than scary, the movie is set in fictional Madison, Del. (conveniently chosen so none of the signs in actual Madison, Ga. had to be swapped out). When a new kid moves in next door to Stine (played by Black) and befriends his daughter, they accidentally unleash all the monsters from Stine’s works.  The movie shrewdly ends with a cliffhanger that all but screams Sequel To Come. Now it looks like it might.
