UPDATE! I got a call from the Department of Revenue. A clerical error somewhere along the way resulted in a typo: The word “Street” was spelled Strreet and as a result no one was able to figure out how to proceed. (Really? Really.) Who knows where that glitch originated but apparently an extra R in a word can stymie the state of Georrgia. Huh.
It’s June 3. Anyone else still waiting on their Georgia tax refund? I’d forgotten all about mine (it’s a fairly small amount) but out of curiosity I decided to use the Georgia Department of Revenue’s thoroughly unhelpful web site. I finally arrived at this message:
Um. Huh? I seriously laughed out loud when I saw this! Y’all can’t figure out how a stamp works or what? C’mon!
They always do a pretty good job mailing me my tax forms. I imagine that if I owed money the state of Georgia would not take such a lax approach.
I’ve asked for an explanation and will share findings, in hopes of helping others dealing with similar nonsense. Although my refund amount isn’t huge or vital, I imagine there are many folks for whom a timely tax refund is essential. So I want to share whatever findings I can.
Anyone else in the same boat?
