U.S. Swim Team member Gunnar Bentz, caught up in Ryan Lochte’s turbulent Rio wake, is coming in for some pointed commentary on social media at the moment. But he’s also made a little kid’s day.

Bentz, detained by Brazilian authorities during their investigation of the “robbery” report Lochte concocted, arrived back at his family’s Atlanta home on Friday. The Bentz family did not speak to reporters.

Online commentary surrounding the swim scandal has focused on Lochte but Bentz has come in for some criticism, too.

But amid all the tut-tut tweets is an uplifting post from a 10-year-old actor. JP Vanderloo, who has appeared in movies including “Wish You Well” and “Singularity,” is a huge fan of the U.S. Swim Team.

The young artist tweeted a nice photo of himself with Ryan Lochte a few weeks ago. On Thursday, while the world waited to see if Gunnar and Jack Conger, who had been taken off a plane and detained do questioning, would be allowed to leave, JP posted a nice message to his embattled hero.

Presumably this is the sort of unique keepsake an Olympic athlete might like to hold onto as a keepsake. Instead, Gunnar gave his to a little kid.

Here’s the photo JP posted with himself (and his sister Lexie) and Lochte a last month:
