Home Depot says it’ll pull a Halloween decoration that’s just a little too creepy. The “Scary Peeper Creeper” is billed as a “realistic face (that) looks just like a real man is peering through the window at you.” After critics found this not at all funny, the Atlanta-based retailer is reconsidering.
“We agree that this is not in line with our core values, and when we heard, took immediate action and are currently in the process of removing this product from our assortment,” Home Depot spokeswoman Emily DiCarlo told CBC News. “We’re sorry for any offense that was caused.”
The move comes after Disney yanked a costume timed to the release of the movie “Moana.” The costume, designed for boys, is based on Maui, a Polynesian ancestral figure to many Pacific Islanders. Critics found it culturally insensitive.
