Marvel’s upcoming “Black Panther,” with Chadwick Boseman in the title role, will film in Atlanta from January through May 2017, as Marvel projects “Ant-Man,” “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” “Captain America: Civil War” and “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” have previously. An open casting call for “Black Panther” extras is planned for this weekend.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the OFS facility, 6305 Crescent Drive NW in Norcross.

Boseman played Jackie Robinson in “42,” which was filmed partly in Atlanta, and played James Brown in “Get On Up,” which was set mostly in Georgia (although it filmed in Mississippi). His title character debuted in locally filmed “Captain America: Civil War.”

At the moment casting folks need people to play the part of villagers in “Wakanda,” the African home nation of Boseman’s character. Men and women ages 18 to 90 are welcome. The casting notice suggests wearing “African wardrobe, Afropunk looks, tribal looks, or just come in a neutral color tank top and shorts/capris/leggings.” Don’t wear baggy clothing as they need to get an idea of your dimensions. Also, don’t bring children to this casting call. (Children will be needed for a future casting call, though).

They also need skilled drummers and martial arts/MMA fighters. Tattoos and piercings are fine, and hair styles will vary. The pay for extras if selected starts at $100 per day.

Finally, plan on it taking about an hour to apply and be photographed for the casting call.
