Why a “Fast and Furious” star is threatening to quit the series

The multi-billion dollar “Fast and Furious” franchise is slated to crank out at least a couple more money makers, but one of its stars might not be along for the ride.

“I hope they decide to show some love to the women of the franchise .. or I just might have to say goodbye,” Michelle Rodriguez said in an Instagram post. She has played Letty, the girlfriend, then wife, of Vin Diesel’s character, Dom.

Rodriguez has spoken out in the past about the male-dominated series.

“I’ve been making movies with Jordana (Brewster), who plays the sister of Dom Toretto, for 16 years and I can count on one hand how many lines I’ve had to her,” she she told Entertainment Weekly earlier this year. “I think that’s pathetic and it’s lack of creativity.”

The eighth in the series, “Fate of the Furious,” was filmed largely in Atlanta and is now out in digital form. At least two more movies are expected, with talks of an additional spin-off in the offing as well.
