Angela Bassett joins the cast of Marvel’s “Black Panther”

Angela Bassett has signed on to join the cast of “Black Panther,” among the slew of Marvel movies to film in Atlanta, the studio announced.

She will play Ramonda, mother of T’Challa, aka Black Panther. Chadwick Boseman stars in the title role. His character debuted in Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War,” which also filmed in Atlanta. Open casting call for Marvel’s “Black Panther” with Chadwick Boseman this weekend

Marvel’s upcoming “Black Panther,” with Chadwick Boseman in the title role, will film in Atlanta from January through May 2017, as Marvel projects “Ant-Man,” “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” “Captain America: Civil War” and “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” have previously. An open casting call for “Black Panther” extras is planned for this weekend.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the OFS facility, 6305 Crescent Drive NW in Norcross.

Tyler Perry and the hit AMC series “The Walking Dead” are business partners now.

Perry’s newly acquired Fort McPherson, a former army base just southwest of downtown Atlanta, is now home to 14 sound stages. His movie “Boo!
