U2 cancels St. Louis concert after Friday night riots

U2 decided to cancel a concert planned for tonight in St. Louis after Friday night protests following a former police officer’s acquittal in a shooting death became violent. Former officer Jason Stockley, who is white, was found not guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Anthony Lamar Smith, who was black. Details on the case are here.

I’ve been coming to Savannah on the regular for more than 20 years but I didn’t know this: There’s a draft copy of the U.S. Constitution down here.

I’m in town this week on hurricane duty, and made the rounds to check on my husband’s relatives in between talking to folks getting ready, including those out on Tybee Island, some of whom just got finished cleaning up from Hurricane Matthew.

Joel Osteen’s huge Houston church is open to those needing shelter and volunteers are delivering and sorting donations for those impacted by Hurricane Harvey’s devastating impact.

“Thank you Houston! We appreciate the volunteers who came out today to help so many people displaced by Hurricane Harvey,” the church posted with a video clip of people driving to the church entrance to deliver items.

Susan Sherlock Bernecker, whose son John Bernecker died after an attempted stunt on the metro Atlanta set of “The Walking Dead” went horribly wrong, has retained the lawyer who secured an $11.2 million verdict in the wrongful death suit filed by film crew member Sarah Jones’ parents. The stuntman seriously injured on the set of AMC hit “The Walking Dead” has been declared brain dead.

John Bernecker had been seriously injured in a fall and was taken by medical helicopter to the hospital.
