Atlanta filmed “Henrietta Lacks” is getting rave reviews

The HBO adaptation of the nonfiction book “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks,” starring and executive-produced by Oprah Winfrey, is getting rave reviews.

The movie, filmed largely in Atlanta, is trending on Twitter following its Saturday night debut.

Members of the Vanderbilt Football team got a little creative in the off season and produced a video spoofing sorority rush videos with hilarious precision.

The guys blow glitter, wave to the camera and lie on the ground holding hands and smiling, poses that will be familiar to anyone who’s seen the increasingly impressive sorority recruitment videos.

Jaylon Gordon plays Oprah Winfrey’s grandson in the HBO adaptation of “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.” The television movie filmed largely in metro Atlanta and debuts at 8 p.m. Saturday.

“It was an amazing opportunity,” he said. “She’s nice, she’s humble. She just has a heart of gold.”

Jaylon’s brother Johnnie, also an actor, has been seen in projects including “A Christmas Blessing.”
