Who gave the OK to use MLK’s voice in Super Bowl ad?

Amid the swift social media furor sparked by a pickup truck ad that used the voice of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change and its CEO, Rev. Bernice King, said in a social media message that neither the center nor King personally were the governing authorities who could have licensed the use.

Ram Trucks did indeed have permission to use the audio, though.

Marvel’s massive blockbuster “Avengers: Infinity War” is due out in May. The latest trailer aired during the Super Bowl. The movie, to be followed by “Avengers: whatever the next one is called” was headquartered at the Pinewood Studios facility but also did some filming in downtown and Midtown Atlanta.

The clip is pretty heavy on the CGI action but see if you can spot Atlanta. Hint: when Dr. Strange and Iron

Michelle Obama: “Forget what they’re saying in Washington”

Michelle Obama visited with her friend Ellen DeGeneres to celebrate the talk show host’s birthday and dispense some advice in these politically fractured times.

“People are afraid, but then there are people who feel good about the direction of this country. That’s what makes this country complicated,” Obama said. “Do the things we do every day. Love each other, take care of each other. We have to be an open-hearted nation.

As far as movie merch goes, the collectors’ items Mattel has just created ranks pretty high. Ahead of “A Wrinkle In Time,” the venerable toy company has created Barbie dolls fashioned after characters portrayed by Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling and Oprah Winfrey.

Director Ava DuVernay was keen to get her hands on a set.

The star-studded premiere of Marvel’s “Black Panther”

The stars aligned for the Hollywood premiere of Marvel’s “Black Panther.”

The blockbuster with Chadwick Boseman in the title role was filmed in Atlanta.

Boseman, director Ryan Coogler and many of the movie’s stars, including
Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong’o, Martin Freeman, Forest Whitaker,  Michael B. Jordan, Angela Bassett and Daniel Kaluuya, turned out for the Tuesday night premiere.
