Tyler Perry packed the house at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre on Sunday, for a live appearance launching his new book, “Higher Is Waiting.” The book, out on Tuesday, is part autobiography, part Bible study, with each chapter concluding with Scripture and some points to ponder.

Ralph Macchio surprises “Karate Kid”-themed festival in Atlanta

The Atlanta Fringe Festival held a unique fundraiser performance over the weekend, called “Five Fifths: A retelling of ‘The Karate Kid’,” where five acting troupes each tackled a section of the classic 1980s movie and performed it live. Guess who showed up? The original Karate Kid himself, Ralph Macchio.

“First Man,” starring Ryan Gosling as astronaut Neil Armstrong, will film at the Emory Briarcliff property later this month. The estate built from 1920-22 for Coca-Cola heir Asa Griggs “Buddie” Candler Jr. once housed a private zoo, its inhabitants later relocating to Zoo Atlanta and features include a 1,700-square-foot music room.

Chris Evans adopted a puppy while filming “Gifted” on the Georgia coast. A scene takes place at an animal shelter and while the movie starred feline extras, Evans fell in love with a dog, named Dodger, and now they are BFFs.

Marvel’s latest “Avengers” movie has been filming in Midtown. Tonight, many of the stars take a break from making movies to make a difference.

Scarlett Johansson hatched the idea and her colleagues Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner signed on. Tony Award winner Kenny Leon directs.
